heading down the coast today on a breezy but sunny, bright day, stopped briefly at Longniddry Bents to let friend's dog have a wee walk to hold him till we got further down the coast, as we came down onto the beach we saw these two horses being exercised in the surf. The bents has a very slow slope to the beach so it is quite shallow for a good bit out, perfect for paddling for humans or horses.
Talking to the lady rider she explained to me that the horse which was being lead around had a leg injury recently and the salt water was good for keeping the wound cleaned out, so they were walking him through the shallows. Her own horse was certainly enjoying it, pawing at the water with his hooves to kick up more spray. What a lovely sight to just come across, two magnificent horses in the water on the banks of the mighty Firth of Forth
