There’s never a dull moment at Westlake Park in downtown Seattle - on May Day it was stormed for the meeting point of the Occupy Seattle brigade and their semi-destructive march through the city….but only a couple of days earlier, it was the calm before the storm with with an impromptu performance by a ballerina.
It was a very cultural affair that day: A touch of light operatics at one end of Westlake, me from my vantage point near the middle playing street chess, and then the ballerina performing at the other end. Mind you, if she had been there during the riots on May Day (kplu.org/post/violent-may-day-protests-seattle-mayor-sign...), avoiding the tear gas, pepper spray and broken windows would certainly have kept her on her toes.
