Nige's Place has added a photo to the pool:
An eastbound semi-fast for London drifts into New Milton headed by WC Pacific 34047 'Callington'.
In the sixties we spent many a happy hour sitting on this woodwork, chatting to Bob or Len in the signalbox (behind the loco) and watching the rail traffic pass through. If something special was due, the signalmen would let us know and we would wait in anticipation for the mysterious train to be 'rung up'.
Often, in the middle of the night, I would return home from a teenage party and drop into the signalbox and Len or Bob would try to sober me up with a strong mug of BR coffee.
Happy days! :0)
